'Empire Light Tourist Model' by New Hudson of St Georges Works, Birmingham, England.
The most eye-catching and unusual feature of this 1930's bicycle is the Black square box frame. Measuring 21" it has the original 'Seal of Quality' and model name transfers visable. The chain-set and 6.1/2" cranks are all original New Hudson products.
This bicycle has a 3 speed Sturmey Archer gear system, most likely fitted at a later date. The rims are 26x1.1/4 and fitted with Michelin and Dunlop Sport tires. The front wheel has quick release Wing nuts for easy removal. Brakes are fitted front and rear with reverse fork mounted caliper brakes, and are in full working order.
Mudguards are original Black painted Steel, manufactured also by New Hudson. On the front guard is a Fyling Chrome emblem of the brand. The original New Hudson badge is rivited to the front of the frame. The bicycle has Chromed Tourist handle bars with a width of 18.1/2" and black rubber grips.
Other features include a Chromed 'King of the Road' bell, English leather rivited saddle, and a rear battery opperated light. Original pedals are available, but not shown in images.
