A rare bicycle from a time when the penny farthing was is in it's early stages and the velocipede had had it's time. Known as the transitional period. This little penny farthing still has the features of a velocipede, like straight rear forks and a rear brake opporated by turning the handlebars which in turn pulled a roller brake on to the rear wheel. The kit of parts comprises of the original front forks with ornate front casting and gun barrel head stock ( another velocipede feature), original spine with saddle spring and rear brake guide hole, straight rear forks with slot and spring hook for rear brake. (rear brake is missing).
Front bronze hub with spoke adjusters and velocipede type bearing and adjusters, rear steel hub with spoke adjusters, original front and rear cresent section rims. 44" inch front wheel and a 24" rear wheel.
The handle bar casting is bronze, but is sadly broken and the bars are missing, but should not be dificult to repair and reproduce a set of bars as the originals were just straight.
