An Italian made Bianchi with a 22" steel lugged frame. This bicycle features the French made Huret Eco derailleur, first introduced in 1976, and this one dating 1980 from the stamped code (4780 - 47 week of 1980). This was one of Huret's better derailleurs, made to fight competition from Japan's Shimano, and Italy's Campagnolo - all releasing simular systems at the same time. The gearing on the rear is a 6 speed 28-14 tooth cassette, and on the front is Binachi's own chainset, with 52/42 tooth chain-rings, and own branded 6.3/4" cranks with ridged detailing.
Wheels are built up from Binachi's own small flange hubs and quick-release skewers, Mavic 'Speciale Sport' rims, and Vittoria 'Competition Rally 23 28" ' tyres which still hold air, but would need replacing due to some perrishing.
This bicycle features ITM 'Special' drop bars with a width of 40mm. These are wrapped in Celeste coloured leather effect bar tape - matching the colour of the bicycle. The bar stem is not branded, but has streamlined, thin alloy design. The brake levers are Modolo 'Flash' with slightly hardened and perrished black hoods. Universal alloy caliper brakes are fitted both front and rear.
Other nice features of this bicycle inlcude the fluted Condor alloy seat post, with the Italia 'Sprint' saddle. The forks also offer a chromed fork crown, still in good condition. The transfers on the frame are in all in good condition, however unfortunately the paintwork has suffered a few scrapes and scratches, the worst being on the down-tube by the cranks on the right hand side (as pictured) but with some cleaning and a touch up this could prove to be a lovely classic Italian racing bicycle.
