Description
C.1950 Armstrong Consort of Birmingham, England racing/touring bicycle in fantastic condition, with all paintwork and transfers in near mint condition. The bicycle has a 23" steel lugged Gentleman's frame.

The bicycle is in complete original condition, featuring all the original transfers, including a St.Christopher road safety badge on the top of the seat tube. The original and fully working Armstrong black pump is attached to the frame, with the logo and strap-line 'The Better Bike' engraved onto it. The Wright saddle company 'Olympic 12' brown leather saddle is also believed to be an original fitting to the bicycle when new. Mudguards are the original red Armstrong made, with no cracks.

The gearing is an early Cyclo Benelux derailer system with 4 speed cassette on the rear, and a Williams 49/46 tooth front chainset with 6.1/2" cottered cranks, and chrome quill pedals. The front deraileur is operated from a shifter on the seat tube, and the rear by a Cyclo lever on the down tube.

Another interesting feature on this bicycle is the Alloy quill stem, which has been drilled, filed and polished out to create to a hollow section in the reach. This most likely would have been done a previous owner as a weight saving technique. The stem has a relatively short reach of 3", and is fitted to drop bars, with a width of 15" and covered in (faded) red cotton bar tape.

The brakes are G.B Sport 'Hiduminium' Alloy caliper brakes, with matching non-hooded drop bar levers. The front wheels have wing-nuts for fast and easy wheel removal and both wheels have been fitted with 27x 1.1/4" Michelin World Tour amber walled tyres, much simular to the originals fitted before.
